ORDERING LIBRARY MATERIALS: FILMS / VIDEOS / DVD's

Digital OR DVD?

In the majority of cases, the library encourages faculty to procure a DIGITAL (online) format of the films / videos they want to use. Why? More and more students live off campus and find it difficult to come into the library and watch the film on DVD.

Which digital service to use largely depends on how the video will be used and how often:

  • If you have more than 15 students in your class AND each student will watch the film individually, then we recommend that you try using Swank

  • If you will be showing the film in class, then we recommend that you first try renting the film. Go to JustWatch to find a list of places where your film can be rented.

  • If you have less than 15 students in your class AND each student will watch the film individually, then we recommend that you ask students to rent the film themselves. Go to JustWatch to find a list of places where your film can be rented.
