Access to the library: CONTACT FREE library pickup


What is Contact Free Library pickup?

GC faculty, staff, and students will be able to place materials on hold from home. We will then pull the items from the stacks, check them out to you, and place them on a table in the library lobby. We will then contact you via email, letting you know that your items are ready for pickup. 

The same process applies to physical Inter Library Loan materials (mainly books). Note: electronic Inter Library Loan requests will continue to be sent to your email per usual. 

How do I gain access?

Starting May 26th - August 14th (M-TH), the library lobby will by open from 12:00pm - 4:00pm.

COVID-19 Precautions

We ask that you take the following actions to keep us all safe...

  1. Face mask is required
  2. Observe the social distancing directions posted in the building
  3. Avoid interacting with library personnel unless absolutely necessary
  4. There will be no access to drinking fountains or public restrooms at this time

How do I check out materials?

The materials you requested will already to checked out to you.

What if I am a community member?

We urge community members to call [574-535-7427] or email [] the library (M-TH 9-5) with their requests for books in the physical collection. We continue to recommend that community members make their interlibrary loan requests through their local public library. We will email or call you when/if the materials available for pickup. 

What about my security?

Please let campus safety (7599 or know that you are coming. In addition, there are cameras scattered throughout the library in several locations.
