CORE 300-02: Religious Landscapes: Pluralism and Extremism (Professor Nickel, Spring 2022): Home

A course guide for CORE 300-02

Getting Started

This is a general course guide for Religious Landscapes: Pluralism and Extremism. It has ideas about how to find topics, conduct research effectively, take notes, and write papers. It also contains links to print and digital resources on a variety of world religions. Most importantly, this guide is designed to help you create your final research project for the class with minimal stress.

Keep in mind as you go forward that this assignment is a thesis-based research paper, which means:

  • It will need a thesis (obvs)
  • You will be building off the work done by other scholars - so choose that work wisely!
  • You will be pulling together existing information on various topics to make a point
  • This is a formal paper, so use formal language
  • Newspaper articles, videos, Tweets, pictures, and other non-academic sources might be acceptable to use if they help illustrate your point... but only after you have made your point using academic sources
