Getting Started

This is a general course guide for Religion 317 / GLST 241: Islam. It has ideas about how to find topics, conduct research effectively, and craft citations in Chicago format. It also contains links to print and digital resources on topics related to Islam. Most importantly, this guide is designed to help you complete your research project as painlessly as possible!

Keep in mind as you go forward that this assignment is research-based, which means:

  • You will be building off the work done by other scholars - so choose that work wisely!
  • You will be pulling together existing information on various topics to make a point
  • Newspaper articles, videos, Tweets, pictures, and other non-academic sources might be acceptable to use if they help illustrate Muslim life in your country, but don't limit yourself to those sources!
