Printing in the Good Library

Selecting a library printer

If you need help with anything in this guide — or have any other problems with the library printers/copiers — please go to the Ask! desk in the reference room or the circulation desk in the lobby.

For more information about printing at Goshen College, see the ITS help desk knowledge base guides.

Quick instructions

When you log in to one of the computers in the Good Library, the computer won't automatically select one of the library printers. If you don't choose a printer when you print, your document will probably end up in the Administration building!

When you're ready to print, make sure you pick one of the following printers:

  • libr-copier1 (Library Copier 1)
  • libr-copier2 (Library Copier 2)
  • libr-colorsavin2 (Library Color Savin; prints in color)

Detailed instructions

Printing from Google Drive (Docs/Sheets/Slides/Drawings)

  1. Bring up the print dialog in Google Drive by either

    • selecting the 'File' menu, then the 'Print' option,
    • clicking the print icon (Google Drive print icon), or
    • on the keyboard, pressing and holding the Ctrl key and pressing the P key.
  2. Find the 'Destination' close to the top of the left options panel.

  3. If the destination is not one of

    • \\print\libr-copier1,
    • \\print\libr-copier2, or
    • \\print\libr-colorsavin2,

    then click the 'Change…' button.

Printing from Microsoft Word

  1. Bring up the print dialog in Microsoft Word by either

    • selecting the 'FILE' menu, then the 'Print' option, or
    • on the keyboard, pressing and holding the Ctrl key and pressing the P key.
  2. Find the 'Printer' close to the top of the left options panel.

  3. If the printer does not start with one of

    • libr-copier1,
    • libr-copier2, or
    • libr-colorsavin2,

then click the dropdown menu and select a printer that starts with one of those names.

  4. The 'Printer' should now be the printer you selected.

Setting up printers on a personal computer

The ITS help desk knowledge base has a guide to setting up campus printers on personal computers running OS X.

We’ll try to post a guide to setting up campus printers on personal computers running Windows as soon as we can. In the mean time, feel free to drop by the Ask! desk in the library for help.
