Step 2: Has the House Already Been Researched?

There's no sense in reinventing the wheel!  Find out what is already known about your house!

(1) Visit the Local History Room at the Goshen Public Library and consult the following book:  Elkhart County:  Interim Report by the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana (2005): 977.281 ELK 2nd ed.  This report provides information about a number of homes in the Goshen Historic District, a recognized historic district on the National Register of Historic Places since 1983.  Note that the report is also available online.

(2) Also at the Local History Room, ask to see the vertical files about historic houses in Goshen.  There may be clippings or other information about your house or other houses nearby.
